Be sure to put this date on your calendar! The annual Program Planning meeting is your opportunity to take an active part in determining the focus of our advocacy efforts in the coming year. In addition to reviewing current public policy positions, we will discuss proposed studies—among them, the LWVIL Gun Violence Prevention study some of our members have already joined.
Please register for this event to let the Program committee know that you plan to attend. We will be emailing materials for review in advance of the meeting. Refreshments will be served, and we want to have enough for all! This event is hosted by Happie Datt.
Join the League of Women Voters of Illinois for a special pre-election webinar on “How Illinois Strives to Ensure a Secure Election Process.” Matt Dietrich, public information officer of the Illinois State Board of Elections (ISBE), will speak, followed by a Q-and-A session.
The event precedes the March 19 Primary Election and is the first of several League webinars where noted authorities will speak on relevant topics leading up to the U.S. Presidential Election on Tuesday, November 5. Presented by LWVIL’s newly-formed Misinformation and Disinformation Task Force, the event is part of an effort to provide tools and resources that educate voters.

With Julie Strauss, Ph.D.
The Supreme Court’s 2022 decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women‘s Health Organization held that the U.S. Constitution does not confer a right to abortion. This decision has had reverberations throughout the country and will be the subject of considerable debate in this election year.
Please join us for a program with Julie Strauss, Ph.D., whose work has focused on the impact women members of Congress have had on public policy. In addition to two years on Capitol Hill working for elected officials, she has spoken to groups at local community colleges, community centers, and several Road Scholar seminars. You can learn more about her past experience athttps://www.juliestraussonamericanpolitics.com
Discussion and questions will follow the presentation.
Please contact Karen Dessent, AAUW Deerfield Area Program Chair with any questions at firstname.lastname@example.org
