Spring weather may be unpredictable, but spring and summer flooding have become all too familiar to local property owners. Join the League of Women Voters of Lake Forest/Lake Bluff on Wednesday, May 8, for a panel discussion, "It's Raining, It's Flooding: Addressing Stormwater Issues in the Community." The event will take place at Dickinson Hall (100 E. Old Mill Road, Lake Forest).
Panelists include Mike Warner (executive director, Lake County Stormwater Management Commission); Mike Thomas (director of public works, City of Lake Forest); Jeff Hansen (village engineer, Village of Lake Bluff); and Ryan London, director of preservation programs, Lake Forest Open Lands Association).
They will examine local and regional stormwater and flooding from different perspectives, covering changes in climatic conditions that have resulted in increased rainfall, proliferation of impermeable surfaces, and aging municipal infrastructure. Practical steps will be presented that homeowners can use to help remediate flooding problems.
The event is free and open to the public.
