Women in Government: Annual Membership Kick-Off Event

You are here

What could possibly appeal to women to get involved in government? After all, while women are 51% of the population, the percentage serving in government at all levels is far smaller. Come hear four brave women who have tackled the challenges and thrived!

Get the inside scoop at our annual membership kick-off event on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Susan Garrett is hosting the informal reception at her home. There is limited space, so reservations are required. Call Mary for information or reservations at 847-295-1494 by Wednesday, September 26.

Susan Garrett, Democrat, State Senator; Roycealee Wood, Republican, Lake County Regional Superintendent of Schools; Peg Determan, Secretary of the nonpartisan Lake Forest Caucus, and Carol Russ Gilbert, member of the nonpartisan Lake Bluff Architectural Board of Review, will reveal their inspirations and rewards. Hear about their first-hand experiences. They will not hold back!

Many of our League members have held elected or appointed office. This party will be a great opportunity not only to hear the speakers, but also to meet and talk with so many of our other League members who have served. We have not had a U.S. President, Congresswomen, or Governor yet from our League, but just about every other position. Maybe you will be inspired to serve!

Invite your friends or neighbors who may be interested in attending. Wine and refreshments will be served.
