The League of Women Voters of Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Area and the Adlai Stevenson Center on Democracy will partner March 10 to present “Safeguarding Democracy: A Panel Discussion on Voting Rights, Money in Politics, and Redistricting Reform.” The event begins at 2 p.m.
Panelists include Madeleine Doubek (executive director, Change Illinois); Jim Allen (spokesperson, Chicago Board of Elections); and David Melton (attorney, Reform for Illinois).
Expect a lively discussion among the three experts with moderator Susan Garrett, former Illinois state senator from the 29th District. Topics include limiting the influence of big money interests in elections, eliminating partisan and racial gerrymandering, and increasing access of all eligible voters to the polls. An informal reception will follow the discussion.
