League of Women Voters – Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Area Organizes Community-wide Voter Registration Drive

LWV-LF/LB is organizing a community-wide effort to encourage voter registration and to answer questions about the process. The League is a local affiliate of National Voter Registration Day (NVRD), a nationwide, nonpartisan effort to register thousands of voters on Tuesday, September 24. Every year, millions of Americans do not vote because they’ve missed a registration deadline, don’t update their registration, or aren’t sure how to register.

This year, partnering with the League are the City of Lake Forest, Dickinson Hall, Lake Bluff Public Library, Lake Forest Academy, Lake Forest High School, Lake Forest Library, Lake Forest Place, Newcomers’ Club of Lake Bluff & Lake Forest, Shields Township, The Sheridan at Green Oaks, and Woodlands Academy.

On September 24, deputy voter registrars will be available to register residents and answer questions at the following public locations:

  • Dickinson Hall, 100 E. Old Mill Rd, Lake Forest from 10:00am to 1:00 pm
  • Lake Bluff Public Library, 123 Scranton, Lake Bluff 10:30am to 8:30pm
  • Lake Forest City Hall, 220 E. Deerpath, Lake Forest from 8:00am to 4:30pm
  • Lake Forest Library, 360 E. Deerpath Rd., Lake Forest from 10:00 am to 4:00pm
  • Shields Township, 906 W. Muir Ave., Lake Bluff from 8:30am to 4:30pm

To register to vote you must:

  • Be a United States citizen
  • Be at least 18 years of age on or before Nov. 3, 2020
  • Live in your election precinct at least 30 days immediately prior to an election

  • Firearm Owner’s Identification (FOID) card
